August – 2016

From the Editor’s Desk

Hari Om Friend,

The month of Shraavan is synonymous with festivals and the celebrations that go with them. Devotees observe austerities, fasts and prayers in this holy month. Shree Ashwattha Maruti Poojan is performed on every Saturday during this month. The idol of Lord Hanuman, sculpted by Sadguru Shree Aniruddha himself, is worshipped on all these days. Chanting of Ghorkasthodharan stotra too is done throughout this holy month of Shraavan.

Sadguru Bapu once said that Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management is the practical form of Ghorkasthodharan Stotra. Disaster management has gained significance enormously during the last few years. Sadguru Aniruddha Bapu’s foresight and vision has given concrete shape to the idea of having an academy that would impart basic training to the citizens of the country at large. Keeping this in mind and with Disaster Management as its principal object Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management (AADM) was formed in the year 2002. This issue provides an insight into the basic Training courses conducted by AADM, absolutely free of cost.

Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management

Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation

The term Disaster is not new to mankind and the strong emotion of panic and dread that it evokes is also common across all segments of society. Disaster could be either natural or created by human beings themselves, but both the categories lead to damage, hurt and wastage of precious resources.

To a large extent, manmade disasters can be predicted and thus prior planning to avert the same can be implemented. But knowledge of the timing of a natural disaster is mostly out of bounds for mankind and thus takes us by surprise and shock.

As has been observed during any disaster, it is the common man, who immediately rushes to the rescue and support in whatever way it is possible. Thus the participation and contribution of the common man cannot be underestimated at the time of any disaster. The AADM Basic Course is hence designed to aggregate and channelise the energies, resourcefulness and positive emotions of the masses who are ready to support the affected.

The Basic Course has been designed and developed by AADM after exhaustive and painstaking research. A pilot workshop of 350 participants was conducted in the year 2002. A number of senior professionals from various academic streams addressed the workshop and finalized the course framework and program methodology.

Tree Plantation

Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation

Environmental degradation is posing a great threat to human survival. With a view to lend a helping hand in restoring the ecological balance, Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation, alongwith Aniruddha’s Academy of Disaster Management, has been proactively organizing Tree Plantation drives in many places of Maharashtra. Apart from enhancing the beauty of the environment, trees help in combating the climate change by reducing global warming. Trees also absorb odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone) and provides oxygen too. It is said that an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen to 18 people for one year.

With this objective, more than 2800 volunteers from 23 Centres of Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation planted 36,360 trees during the months of June-July 2016. More such plantations would be done with the help of volunteers in the days ahead.

During the month

Shree Gurupournima Utsav

Sadguru is the guide, the friend who loves selflessly, who is the source of strength, of joy; who wants to see us all happy, who feels our pain and provides relief. He does all of this out of love and concern. He strives for our welfare and that He does at all times and at all costs. He is the One who turns darkness in our lives into light. He is the One who equips us to face and withstand difficult times. This He does without expecting or accepting anything from us. And so Gurupournima is a special day for all the devotees.

It is their day to express their gratitude and love for their Sadguru who is all of the above and yet so much more than words can express. He is the father, the dearest friend of each of the millions.

Shree Ashwattha Maruti Poojan

Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation

This poojan is done on all Saturdays during the month of Shraavan. The idol/statue of Lord Hanuman sculpted by Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Bapu himself, is worshipped on all these days. This statue is made from one single stone. At the time of Poojan, this statue is worshipped with Red Lead i.e. Shendur.

Shree Hanumant Upasana is very much beneficial and helps to avoid the recurring mistakes and sins of our life. It also helps in increasing one’s devotion and makes oneself strong enough to face the adversities of life.

Shree Ghorkasthodharan Pathan

Shree Aniruddha Upasana Foundation

Since 2003, Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Upasana Trust arranges Ghorkashtodharan Stotra Pathan (Chanting) during the entire month of Shraavan. In each session the Stotra is chanted 108 times. A large number of Shraddhavans who participate in the chanting also donate rice, pulses etc., which is then used for “Annapurna Prasaadam Yojana” under Sadguru Shree Aniruddha Bapu’s 13 Point Programme.
